A Word from ABA President, AJ Vanden Hoogen

Hello, and welcome to the Ashwaubenon Basketball Association!

We are a community-based organization that strives to provide a quality basketball program for the male student-athletes who reside in or attend schools in the Village of Ashwaubenon. Our goal is to offer this unified, consistent youth basketball program for all interested each and every year. Our organization consists of a board of directors, parent coaches and coordinators and countless volunteers. It is with the efforts of so many that we are able to provide these experiences for our student-athletes.

Our program teaches participants the value of a proper attitude, good sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials while improving both their individual and team basketball skills. We take great pride in developing student-athletes, and expect our players to be leaders in their schools and the greater Ashwaubenon Community. As these boys develop their skills, we are confident that we will graduate not only accomplished athletes but also great community members as well.

Our players are given the opportunity to learn the game of basketball through various camps, practices and games throughout the season. We offer two separate offerings for our players based on age. Our K-2 players are invited to participate in structured basketball camps where we stress the importance of basketball fundamentals and the love of the game. These boys focus on having fun and learning the basics of this great game. For grades three through eight, we offer the opportunity to play on a traveling tournament team. These boys will have regularly scheduled practices and games where they compete with other teams from neighboring schools and communities. It is through this journey that we develop our student-athletes and confidently graduate eighth grade classes each year to incoming freshman at the high school for the following season.

Our philosophy started and has remained quite simple: We teach the fundamentals of basketball, make it fun, and keep it fair.  We want to build great basketball players and in that process also build the complete student-athlete in the process.

I want to welcome any new ABA families this season; we are so excited to have you with us.  For the returning families, welcome back! We look forward to picking up where we left off and moving the program forward.

Thank you, GO JAGS!!

Word from Varsity Coach Mark Tomashek

Sports can unite, inspire, and be a reflection of the community.  Our aim is to develop high achieving student athletes, who strive to reach their maximum potential on and off the court. Thus becoming lifelong contributors to society.  My goal is to use basketball as a means to that mission.

Two cornerstones of our program are hard work and enthusiasm.  We will focus our efforts on bringing high energy, diligent preparation and devotion to each other.  It is said that enthusiasm drives and fuels achievement.  We hope that you will witness the benefits of that passion in all we do.

We thank the greater Jaguar family, including students, staff, parents, fans, volunteers, the Ashwaubenon Basketball Association, and School Administration.

We welcome our opponents and fans, the referees and media to tonight’s game.

Go Jags!
